Lions Certified Instructor Program (LCIP)

Lions Certified Instructor Program (LCIP)

The Lions Certified Instructor Program (LCIP) is a new program in which Lions can apply to become certified instructors in order to be eligible to serve as faculty at LCI-directed institutes, DGE seminar and other training related events.

Why?

The purpose of the LCIP is to provide consistent delivery of effective training at all levels within Lions by increasing the number of qualified instructors, while providing a framework for broadening and deepening the knowledge and experience of instructors.

Who Qualifies?

Lions who are interested in applying to the LCIP must fall into at least one of the following categories:

Category 1 - Lions who have not yet served as faculty at a DGE seminar or LCI-directed institute, but who have experience as a professional trainer or educator (for five or more years).

Category 2 - Lions who have served as faculty at a local training (e.g. RLLI, district-level training for club officers, etc.) or conducted training at forums.

Category 3 - Lions who have served as faculty at a DGE seminar or LCI-directed institutes prior to July 2012.

Category 4 - Lions who have served as faculty at a DGE seminar or LCI-directed institute from July 2012 to the present.

Your qualifications above will determine the path you will need to take to be eligible for certification.

For Lions who fall into categories 1-3:

If your application is accepted:

  • You will be invited to attend a 4-day pilot training session to be held in Oak Brook, IL on May 17-20, 2018. This is the second rendition of the pilot-training and will be offered in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
  • Throughout the training you will be evaluated to determine eligibility for certification.

Acceptance into training is not guaranteed, and acceptance does not guarantee certification.

For Lions who fall into category 4:

If your application is accepted, your eligibility for certification will be determined by one of the following:

  • In-person observation at a future LCI-directed institute or DGE seminar, OR
  • Submission of a video sample of a training session conducted by you.

Acceptance into the program is not guaranteed.

If you do not fall into any of the four categories, but are still interested in developing your training skills, consider applying to the Faculty Development Institute (FDI).
